First of all, I am not a film critic or reviewer. I do not
have any kind of degrees in writing of any sort (as most who do, can probably
tell from my writing style). But I do love to write. Especially about things I
am really passionate about. I’m not quite sure what I could say about this film
that true fans haven’t already said or thought. Mister Rogers will always have
a special place in my heart. I grew up watching him on my local PBS channel.
Here in Dallas it’s KERA. I remember I preferred
Mister Rogers over Sesame Street. Mister Rogers made you feel like everything
was going to be ok, especially when everyone else made you feel like an
outcast. The movie in my, as well as my daughter’s opinion, was just fantastic.
I’m not going to go into that much detail. Probably not a lot at all. For the
simple fact, you should see it for yourself. They touched base on all facets of
his life. From the time before the neighborhood to his passing. They even
showed you how Daniel Striped Tiger was created. They also showed clips
from the early days (even though they didn’t talk about it in this film) that
you could see a young Michael Keaton when he worked with Fred. Though there is
a ton of problems today with society in my opinion. I honestly believe that the
list of problems would be shorter if we had more people like Fred Rogers in the
world. So would I recommend this documentary for you to see? A million times
yes. Just take some Zyrtec or something beforehand. For some reason when I was
watching it, something had to be in the air because my eyes kept watering.
